Foodies and fans of McIntyre Square in McCandless and Ross Township, get ready! Rumors have been flying around the neighborhood that Primanti Brothers, a popular restaurant chain, is planning to move into our beloved square.
As most of us know, Primanti Brothers is a Pittsburgh staple, known for its sandwiches made with French fries and coleslaw on them. The restaurant has been in business since 1933 and is a favorite of locals and visitors alike.
If the rumors are true, it will be a huge win for Ross Township and McCandless residents who shop at McIntyre Square. Primanti Brothers is a unique restaurant that offers a taste of Pittsburgh that cannot be found anywhere else.
An informed source--let's call them a "foodie friend of ours" who has a family member that works in McIntyre Square shopping plaza. This person reported to us that Primanti Brothers will soon occupy the property where Giants Eagle currently houses its GetGo corporate staff.
This property, before GetGo, used to be the home of Emiliano's Mexican Restaurant, which had since closed and moved, or opened a new location, in the McCandless Crossing shopping plaza further north. This McIntyre location, in our opinion, is a great spot for a Primanti Brothers Restaurant.
We know this news will surely have everyone talking - but is it true?
Nothing official has been published yet about this development so far as we could find. Although, there has been much talk on the Ross Township Community Facebook page about this development.
Additionally, there are images floating about there of a Ross Township official notice of a public hearing to be held on Jan. 17 involving the transfer of a liquor license to Primanti Brothers at 45 McIntyre Square Rd. This is where the GetGo corporate offices are located. So, there is that!
Who knows? We reached out to Primanti Brothers but have not heard back yet. What we do know for sure is that the anticipation of this potential establishment has already piqued the curiosity of folks near and far - which means there's only one thing left to do: get excited and hungry!
