So if you are a resident of them thar North Hills of Pittsburgh, then this website might help you discover other parts of the unique area of the world called the North Hills of Pittsburgh.

How is Across North Hills food and drink guide different than say just googling restaurants?

For one thing, Google can't be everything, and they do try. You may see so-called "local guides" that have reviewed businesses on Google and while this was a neat idea in theory, in practicality it resulting in ho-hum information, if not spammy information, about local restaurants. Oh, there is Yelp too.

Yelp aims to show nothing but user reviews of restaurants. Hey, they do a good job of that, but our approach is more curatorial and editorial if you will. In other words, we want to carefully review what is said about our shops and services and therefore our restaurant and bars. This is not the place to complain about a cold meal, a rude waiter, or a weak drink. Hey, no matter how great a business is, there will be instances of less than desirable service. That is to be understood.

While you have a right to be unhappy about poor service, we don't provide a platform for griping about instances of less than desired service. If your meal was incorrect, cold, overcooked, whatever - take it up with the restaurant. However, if you have something constructive to say or a suggestion that is more than a complaint but a way for a restaurant to legitimately enhance its customer experience, then we would love to approve a review like that.

So you might ask. Is this than just a platform to say nothing critical about a business?

No. It must useful and present a balanced perspective otherwise we will not approve it. Now, that being said, we will pay attention to complaints.

If we get a lot about a business, we may investigate, and then choose at our discretion, to remove them from the website. We just are not a public one-sided forum for disputes. In fact, featured restaurants have full control over their so-called "endorsements".

Yes, featured restaurants can choose what appears on their listing page. That being said, it must be true stuff that real customers have actually said. We will do our part to ensure that anything posted about a restaurant or business is true and attributable to real customers. If we feel a restaurant is making up stuff, then we will remove them from our site at our sole discretion.

Admittedly, the food and drink guide is a work in progress, but in progress it is. As the editor, I personally invite anyone to contribute to our food and drink guide.
