Last weekend, under the enchanting fall afternoon, witches gathered at the serene North Park Lake for a spellbinding experience. They embarked on the 4th annual Witch and Warlock Paddle Outing and Food Drive, casting their magical spells while gliding gracefully on the shimmering waters. The event was filled with mystical energy as participants came together to support a great cause and spread the spirit of Halloween. It was a bewitching sight to behold! The event, hosted by L.L. Bean's Outdoor Discovery Program, took place on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at North Park Lake in McCandless.
Participants dressed in their best garb and brought their own kayaks or stand-up paddleboards to dance along the lake, enchanting onlookers as they floated by. Observers also wore costumes as they cheered the paddlers on.
Attendees were reminded to bring a bag of non-perishables for the food bank, and donations were dropped off at the L.L. Bean trailers. Additionally, a table was set up to support Be the Match for Jax, a local 8-year-old in need of a life-saving stem cell donor.
Nancy Barnes, an experienced instructor from the L.L. Bean Outdoor Discovery Program, was inspired by a successful event held in the picturesque landscapes of the Pacific Northwest.
Recognizing the importance of promoting outdoor activities, she envisioned an event that would not only encourage people to explore the great outdoors but also foster a sense of camaraderie among participants. With a warm and welcoming atmosphere, this event aims to create lasting connections and unforgettable experiences in nature.
