The No. 8 seed Indians found themselves in a WPIAL semifinal matchup against Chartiers Valley on Tuesday afternoon on the road at Montour High School once again facing a team that was favored to beat them. And, once again, the Indians prevailed.

North Hills junior pitcher Sophia Roncone tossed a gem of a game Tuesday, striking out 13 and allowing only 4  hits, leading the Indians back to the WPIAL championship game for the first time in 21 years, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.

“I just wanted to give my team a chance to win and do the best I can out there,” Roncone said after the game to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “I think we just have to go out there and play for ourselves and play as a team and keep playing at the level we have been.”

Last week, North Hills took out the No. 1 seed Penn-Trafford when Roncone struck out 13 and allowed just four hits in a 6-1 upset win against No. 1 seed Penn-Trafford in the WPIAL quarterfinal round. What will she do next week?

The Indians move on to a WPIAL championship game next week against No. 7 seed Armstrong (15-4) at California (Pa.).
