PITTSBURGH, PA — A Wexford restaurant that proudly claims to have introduced authentic Thai cuisine to the Pittsburgh area back in 1989 is officially shutting its doors. Thai Palace, located along the busy Route 19 in Wexford, will serve its final dishes on Oct. 20, marking the end of an era for many loyal patrons.
The closure announcement was made on the restaurant's website, which has been a hub for the local community over the decades.
"We want to express our heartfelt gratitude for choosing to dine with us for decades," a message on the website stated. "It has brightened our days, and we sincerely hope your experience with us was nothing short of delightful and memorable." The owners emphasized the joy and fulfillment they felt serving their customers, highlighting the many friendships and connections built over the years.
The message continued, "Our team takes immense pride in serving you our exceptional homemade Thai dishes, carefully prepared using cherished recipes passed down through generations in owner Surin's family. The rich flavors and culinary traditions that we brought to the table have been a labor of love for us. However, as with all good things, this chapter must come to a close. After much contemplation, we have decided to fully retire and close our restaurant."
Despite the impending closure, the vibrant flavors of Thai Palace will continue to linger in the community. The eatery has recently launched a line of five cooking sauces that capture the essence of their popular dishes: Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Thai Fried Rice, Sweet & Sour, and General Tso’s. These sauces are designed for customers to recreate their favorite meals at home and are now available in select Giant Eagle Market District locations, including Shadyside, Waterworks, Murrysville, Bethel Park, Settlers Ridge, and Wexford. Additionally, they can be found at the Oriental Market on McKnight Road in Ross, ensuring that the spirit of Thai Palace continues to thrive in kitchens across the region.
