Pizzarita a locally owned and operated pizza restaurant located along Burchfield Rd. in the Shaler area of Rt. 8. They make a variety of pizzas, hoagies, salads, and more. Founded by Italian immigrants, Pizzarita traces its pizza lineage to the Posteraro family pizza shops of the Bloomfield part of Pittsburgh. The name "Pizzarita" is not some variation of the word "pizzeria" either, but rather a portmanteau of Pizza and Rita. According to their website, Rita was one of the sisters involved in the family pizza business.
