View of newly completed McKnight Road and Babcock Boulevard interchange looking north on McKnight Road in Ross Township, Allegheny County, PA (1946). Officially opened on December 29, 1946, motorists enjoyed a four-lane limited-access high-speed highway from Pittsburgh's East Street Valley to its intersection with Perrymont and Babcock Boulevard in the Town of McCandless, near the home of the Vincentian Sisters of Charity. Photo shows hills on both sides of McKnight road as they appeared prior to commercial and residential development. Ross Township's municipal complex is currently situated on a hilltop located on the left side of the photo.
