Last Thursday, while my better half was dancing the night away with the Pittsburgh Tango group on the other side of the Hot Metal Bridge, I found myself embarking on a solo bar exploration in the South Side. It wasn’t long before I landed at a spot called The Library. No, not the place for quiet reading—though I couldn’t resist texting my better half to tell her I’d popped over to 'the Library' for a bit of 'study.'
The Library on Carson is one of those rare places that marries the spaciousness of a grand venue with the snug feel of your local hangout. The crowd was a delightful mix of young and old, adding to the smart yet leisurely vibes that filled the air. Curiosity got the better of me, and I ventured up to the second level, drawn by the sounds of a lively gathering. Lo and behold, I stumbled upon a room with a pool table and several other entertainment options, all catered by another bar. It appeared I had crashed a work party, and the buffet spread of sliders and chicken tenders was too good to pass up. I mingled with the crowd, and if anyone had asked who I was, I was ready with my cover story: "Hi, I'm Noodles, the Web Guy."
After enjoying some friendly banter and a few games, I retreated downstairs with a beer in hand, settling into the cozy sitting area to plan my next move. The Library had quickly proven itself as a place worth revisiting, with its inviting atmosphere and interesting patrons. It's safe to say, I’ll definitely be back—perhaps next time I’ll even bring a book, for the sake of irony.
